These figures took a long time to finish, but at last the latest piece of Glenn's commission is done. Glenn's Carthaginian army gets two units of archers, each of seven figures. The men in drab tunics are Spanish or Numidian archers. The Cretan archers get their distinctive red tunics and shields. The last of the scutari are now done. The spears are all from Northstar. I used five minute epoxy to join the spears to the hands. The epoxy leaves some unsightly bulges, but nothing too extreme. When I shopped around for velites, I liked the look of 1st Corps' offering the best. The figures looked simple, which was just what I wanted. This week I'm leaving the redcoats and returning to my Second Punic War Romans. The latest Bunker Hill unit is ready. This is the 2nd Marines, painted in white facings with silver buttons. The Marines did not carry a flag, so we have a pretty dull command stand on this unit.I assume the drummer would have been in the royal livery, but I went with white so I could use this unit for a British line unit with white facings.

Yesterday morning I finished up a small commission of WWII vehicles for a local gamer. The models are all from Company B. They have resin bodies with metal accessories.The molding on the vehicles was crisp, and the resin was almost free of bubbles. There was some considerable flash which took a while to clean up. I had a bit of a setback this week. After I sprayed the Union cavalry with enamel black paint, the paint clouded up. I thought I could paint the figures with some acrylic black to hide the cloudiness, but the bottom halves of the figures were grainy, and the grainy paint obscured some detail. I finished basecoating the Union infantry today and am ready to move on to the highlighting. Once that is done, it's just canteens, straps, and blanket rolls left to do.Painting the Union soldiers is moving much faster than painting the Confederates did.

I painted these in one quick rush for a WWII game with the guys. I spent two hours painting, basing, and flocking these 26 figures. They aren't beautiful, but this is the best I can do when I'm in a hurry!Figures are a mix of Battlefront and Old Glory with one from Peter Pig.

I finished up the latest batch of rebels for my commission this morning. Fresh off the painting bench are 24 gunners, 10 dismounted cavalrymen, and two standing horses.I was able to make a little better time on this batch by painting like poses on the same stick. I put the finishing touches on these figures today. It took me five weeks from start to finish, but the end result is pretty good. These guys are dressed in a motley assortment of greys, butternuts, and browns.I found the Sash and Saber figures still look the best. The Foundry were a little disappointing. They lacked some of the deep relief of other lines, and it was tough to make them pop.

I highlighted all the uniforms this week. I gave these figures a motley mix of colors, so they should look pretty ragged once complete. Next week I'll be highlighting the haversacks, painting canteens and straps, and hopefully finishing all the flesh highlights. Then I'll just have blankets and some trim work to do. I think I can still finish these 160 figures within five weeks of starting.
