Giant Commission -- Complete Anglo-Allied Army

I started this one back in July.  Seven months later, it is complete.  This army is huge -- about as large in total castings as the ACW armies in my own collection.  You see pictured below 1,083 foot, 149 mounted, and 24 guns.  Every miniature is from AB.  Every base is Litko.  Every flag is GMB.

I lightened up the pictures with a photo editor, something I do not usually do.  The big pictures usually end up very dark.  The result is a bit of over-saturation on some colors.  Still, these pictures do give you a taste of how the whole army looks.

British Foot Guards and 95th Rifles




I have been painting miniatures for a while now: 25 years or so.  I think I can safely say that this is the best army I have ever painted.  The colors pop.  The painting is tidy and well highlighted. Every button and lace color is as accurate as I could make it.  Glen,, you have a jewel of an army coming your way!

    Scott, up until now, I think my favorite piece of historical toy soldiering that I've ever seen is a particular unit of Highlander's that Dave Taylor painted up.

    It is now number two. I have to say, I find this work just stunning. I'd do nearly anything to have that collection on my shelves! A wargaming masterpiece; you should be proud... I just wish you could keep them!:). - Lord Ashram

    Scott you have driven me out from being a long time lurker with this amazing work. The figures are works of art, the units wonderful and I am sure with all of it on the table the whole would look superb. I do hope the owner takes great care of it and doesn’t let any bayonets get bent. He (?) will certainly be very proud when it gets on the table the first time.

      Thanks for breaking cover and posting! Yes, Glenn is taking good care of these. He has been playing games with the other four armies for a while now, and he has nary a broken bayonet.

      I am one of those gamers who meticulously straightens bayonets and swords. These figures are too beautiful to have crooked weapons.

    I'll probably have to go to Little Wars this year so I can play with these at least one time. You should take really good photos of the battle and let's if we can get them into Wargames Illustrated.

      Thanks, AJ! I thought of trying to get a shot of the whole army on my gaming table, but as these smaller shots took over two hours to set up, I decided not. I'll get some pictures of them in action at Little Wars.
