Blue Moon 18mm Dismounted Rebel Cavalry

I am on a painting tear right now.  Although I have not been updating the blog that frequently, I am finishing figures at a good rate.  I am hoping to get my entire Confederate Blue Moon army completed in time for a modeling show in October, and I think I will make it.

Here are 38 bases of dismounted Confederate cavalry, based for Regimental Fire and Fury.  I am working on horse holders to go with them.  All the figures are Blue Moon.  Bases are Litko, and flags are GMB.

Blue Moon has a nice variety of poses here, and by varying the uniform colors, I was able to make them even more motley.

  1. Nice work!

How large are you expecting your Confederate army to be when finished?

  2. I'm shooting for 300 bases of infantry, 30 bases of cavalry, and enough guns that I can field 6-10 batteries of various types.

  4. Scott, I have had great success mixing in some AB dismounted ACW cavalry with the similarly sized Blue Moons. They are a good match, even on the same stand. Part of the reason I did this is that I'm not a big fan of dismounted cavalry firing pistols (a rare sight when typically they were deployed with carbines firing like infantry), so the AB's armed with carbines (in 5 different poses) give you a lot more variety.
