Giant Commission -- French Hussars

I have been plugging away on the commission.  I painted all 166 French horses in one go.  Now I have started on the riders.  First up were the hussars.

Glenn is making each stand a regiment, so you see here eight groups of three horsemen for hussar regiments 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 11.

Next up are eight regiments of chasseurs a cheval.

  3. The bays are outstanding! Are you using Autumn Brown or something even lighter?

    Great job!

    1. Great point, Jonathan. I was so focused on the colorful riders that I completely missed the beauty of the horses. Scott's skill and talent is really on display here.

    2. That's Autumn Brown over Brown Iron Oxide. It comes out a little lighter than it would over black.

    1. I have some Blue Moon figures to paint for myself, and they have the dolman AND pelisse visible. Those should be even more colorful!
