Giant Commission -- French Lancers

Here is the last of the French light cavalry, 24 lancers.  I had never painted a French lancer before, but I like the look of the uniforms.

Next up are the dragoons, cuirassiers, and carabiniers.

  1. These are truly great! I've always had a special place in my heart for these guys (and their dragoon cousins). Tremendous job!

  3. They look like you've painted lancers your whole life. Spot on.

  4. Great stuff! I really like the horses with their heads down as if they are simply plodding along the trail. Great animation.

    1. AB figures are nice all around, of course, but their horses are magnificent.

  5. Fantastic as always. Im struggling a little at the moment with painting horses and i have a lot of them with my current projects. I was wondering if you had time i you could lite the colours you use for your horses as they always look so good.

    1. It's a real mix of colors. Here are the pairs, with shade first followed by main color:

dark burnt umber / brown iron oxide
brown iron oxide / autumn brown
      autumn brown / toffee brown
      quaker grey / oyster white
chocolate cherry / candy bar brown
      espresso / territorial beige
territorial beige / territorial beige : white 1:1

  6. Yet another outstanding example of how painted miniatures should look!
