20mm Wayne's Legion: US Infantry

These 96 figures will comprise the US Army regular infantry for Bill's force. I really enjoyed painting these figures, and I think the finished paint job really pops.

Now I am working on the US frontier militia and the mounted figures. Once those are done, I will start on the natives.

1/72 WWI Highland Infantry

I'm still trying out some World War I figures. Like the early war Germans, these mid-war highlanders are from HaT Industries.

I have a couple more sets to try out, but so far I do like the soft plastic figures.

Testing WWI Figures

I am continuing to experiment with some WWI projects. This batch of figures are 1/72 soft plastics from HaT Industries. 

I'm pretty pleased with how these turned out. I think I could field an army of these fellows pretty easily.

20mm Wayne's Legion: US Artillery

Today I finished basing up these 2 guns, 12 crew, and 2 horses.  Once again, I am impressed by the quality of these sculpts!

Next week I should have some pictures of the US infantry.

New Commission - 20mm Wayne's Legion and Native Confederation

I'm pretty excited to tackle this project!  Bill Hupp, the owner of Thistle and Rose Miniatures, sent a few hundred figures for me to paint.  I will readily admit to knowing very little about the American Legion of the 1790s, but I have read a couple of books on the Wabash and Fallen Timbers.

These 20mm figures were originally found in the Frying Pan and Blanket line.  They are older sculpts, but they look great!  I spent Monday and Tuesday prepping and priming the Americans.  Today I was able to finish my prototype paint job.  If Bill approves of the color scheme, I will start on the assembly line.

What do you think, blog buddies?  It's an obscure period, but I think these armies should turn out great!

One thing I really enjoy about painting for Kevin is that he forces me to leave my comfort zone.  He never wants Napoleonic French or ACW Union.  I always get to paint something new and exciting!
