40mm Commission -- Flags

The 18 flags will adorn Carl's Union infantry regiments.  The flags are from a mix of manufacturers, but most are from GMB.

Basing has begun!  This commission is almost complete.

40mm Commission -- U.S. Sharpshooters

This is the first time I have painted these famous troops in ANY scale.  Carl wanted a regiment of sharpshooters for his Union army.  The only illustrations I could find of U.S. Sharpshooters buglers showed them with pistol and sword rather than rifle, so a converted officer figure is acting as the musician.

With these done, ALL the figures for Carl's Union army are complete!  I will be building and painting the flags and cannon, and then I will move on to basing.

40mm Commission -- Union Generals and Gunners

Today I finished up these four Union generals and 18 gunners.  Carl wanted two gun crews in campaign dress, so he sent Confederate crews which I painted as Union.

All that remains is one regiment of US sharpshooters, and they should be done in the next couple of days!  Then I get to start basing and assembling flags.  This commission is very near the end.

40mm Commission -- 146th New York

These were a lot of fun!  The 146th New York is one of my favorite regiments to paint, and Chris Hughes has done the zouave uniform proud.

I have just a few dozen more figures left in this commission: Berdan's sharpshooters, artillery crews, and mounted generals.

40mm Commission -- More Union Infantry

Fresh off the assembly line come these 92 figures.  We have enough infantry privates for one heavy artillery and one firing line regiment.  All the infantry command figures are also in this lot.  Finally, we have one five figure stand of falling wounded.  It looks like the canister has found its target!

Tomorrow I start the final group of figures: 3 guns with crew, a regiment of zouaves, Berdan's sharpshooters, and mounted generals!

40mm Commission -- Marching Union Infantry

Today I finished painting 100 Union infantry marching.  These figures took much longer than I had thought they would.  Assembly and priming took quite a lot of work, and the painting itself was much more demanding than with 28mm, but the end result is pretty spectacular.

My patron wanted very light uniforms for his gaming table, and he also wanted a mix of shades.  Hopefully these satisfy on both counts!

Tonight I will start in on the command figures as well as firing line and advancing troops.
