ACW Commission: Union Infantry Test Unit Finished

It has been a while since I've painted 28mm Union troops, so I completed a unit tonight to see if the colors looked right to me. I changed the highlight color of the trousers halfway through, as the lighter color seemed a bit too light to me. I think the jackets and equipment look just right.

All figures are Crusader.

  4. I second the request for colors used. Also, do you vary pants colors or stick to the same color for all of your union troops?

Very nice painting as usual. Can't wait to see this project progress.

  5. Nice looking Federals. The darker highlight was the right way to go, the lighter version had too much contrast for my taste. this will be a good looking force when you are done. Your client will be proud to field these guys.

  6. Great paint job....

I'm not sure about it,but didn't some acw units have some special colors or objects such as the Irish brigade to indicate the unit?

  7. These look great. The coat color is perfect and the color for the pants on the top right corner seems perfect to me...though I'm quite sure that in reality there was some variance in Union pants (either from manufacturing or weathering and wear).

I think that uniformity is good for the Union troops in this army, but if you want to throw in an occasional red blanket or something non-uniform, that would be great....just to give the units a little variety.
