My gaming buddy Austin is cleaning out all his miniatures. He sent me a 73 pound box of unpainted lead! These are the first of his figures I have painted, 12 men of the 2nd Silesian Landwehr cavalry.
Austin had ambitiously replaced the cast lances on four figures with brass wire. I grabbed my pin vice and prepped the rest.
I know a lot of people do not like Old Glory, but I think these are great little figures!
Without any clue as to how landwehr lance pennants would have looked, I went with a suitably Silesian color scheme on these.
I am waiting on a few figures from Eureka, and then it's back to the giant commission!
Scott, anything painted by your hand will be nice, no doubt. The Old Glory Prussian range is a good one. Being a later addition, the sculpting is good, clean and a little larger than their first 15mm Napoleonic offerings.
ReplyDeleteAs for pennants, I would have to look those up but I have seen them often white over yellow.
Thanks, Jon! I spent a lot of time researching landwehr pennants for Glenn's project, and they were all over the place. I don't think there waas any regularity.
DeleteGreat job, and so worthwhile to replace the lances with wire.
ReplyDeleteIt's OK on 10 figures, but I would have doing it for 40-60.
DeleteThese look lovely. From memory pennant colours changed between 1813 to 1815. There is a good table on this site: http://uniform-evolution.0catch.com/prussia30q.html
ReplyDeleteThat's a site I perused quite a bit while painting Glenn's army. Period illustrations showed a pretty shocking variance from regulation, though.
DeleteThey take me back a few years. It must be around 15 years since I carried those .. Man where did all the time go.. Nice job though!!
ReplyDeleteWhen did Old Glory sell off their 15mm line? Was it really 15 years ago?
DeleteBeautiful Landwehr Cavalry, great colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Phil!
DeleteReally, I would've gotten around to painting them...eventually...
ReplyDeleteGreat work as always.
Thanks, Austin. The figures you did paint look great!
DeleteGreat work. Surprised that they are Old Glory.
ReplyDeleteMight need to go over there and order some for casualties (which are lacking for some nations from AB).
Thanks, Glenn. I do like Old Glory's casualties. All of the casualty markers in my own armies are from Old Glory.
