ACW Commission: Union Infantry Finished Pictures

I took some shots of the finished 176 figures outside. The light still wasn't perfect, but this should give you a better idea of what they look like.

I'm already started on the Union gunners.

ACW Commission: Union Infantry Finished!

Here they are: 176 Union infantry figures. I'l try to get some good closeups tomorrow: all my pictures tonight ended up way too dark.

ACW Commission: Union Infantry Test Unit Finished

It has been a while since I've painted 28mm Union troops, so I completed a unit tonight to see if the colors looked right to me. I changed the highlight color of the trousers halfway through, as the lighter color seemed a bit too light to me. I think the jackets and equipment look just right.

All figures are Crusader.

ACW Commission: Union Infantry Basecoated

I finished basecoating the Union infantry today and am ready to move on to the highlighting. Once that is done, it's just canteens, straps, and blanket rolls left to do.

Painting the Union soldiers is moving much faster than painting the Confederates did.

WWII Soviets

I painted these in one quick rush for a WWII game with the guys. I spent two hours painting, basing, and flocking these 26 figures. They aren't beautiful, but this is the best I can do when I'm in a hurry!

Figures are a mix of Battlefront and Old Glory with one from Peter Pig.

ACW Commission: Union Infantry Begun

This is the largest single chunk of the commission: 176 Union infantrymen, and I'm going to tackle them all at once.

Last week I got the figures prepped and primed. This week I've painted the hair, socks, face basecoat, muskets, and other silver bits, such as bayonet frogs, canteen caps, and drinking cups.

At this point, most of the fine detail work is done. I always find these early stages to be the most tedious part of a paint job. The figures don't look like much yet, but the foundation is laid. Tomorrow I'll start painting uniforms, and the little men will start looking more like little men.
