Waiting on Bases . . .

I have been doing a lot of painting over the past month, all Blue Moon Civil War.  I finished 30 Confederate mounted officers, 106 Confederate cavalry, and 8 horse holders with 32 horses.

I would love to show them to you, but I am waiting on a large Litko order.  It should be here any day, and then there will be a flurry of basing, flocking, and photographing.  I love Litko bases, but I do wish their turnaround was a little quicker.

  1. You have been busy! I agree with your Litko comment completely. With their slow turn-around, one must really plan for long lead times.

  2. And then of course they showed up at my door within a couple of hours of writing the post.

  3. yes indeed Litko are great products and yet are slow dispatching orders, some cases taking up to 3 weeks for my bases to arrive.

I sometimes go to Minibits http://www.minibits.net/ great bases for cheaper prices and usually arrive at my door in about 7 days.

....back to my 28mm Landsknechts painting project :o)
    cheers,

  4. Scott, I'm a lot less satisfied with Blue Moon's ACW dismounted figures. The sculpting quality is just not as good as much of the rest of the range, and there is a lot less variety. So, I've mixed in a lot of dismounted AB figures alongside the Blue Moons. They actually match up very well.

  5. Don, they could certainly use more poses, or maybe less distinctive poses. Simple firing and loading figures might work better than the "one hand in the air firing a pistol, the other hand in the air pointing a pistol at your buddy" poses, which might work well as one-offs, but don't look right with 6-12 such figures in a unit.
