I finished painting three battalions of Eureka WFR Autrian infantry last night, and this morning I finished their brigade commander.
I believe this is supposed to be a colonel, but so far as I can tell, this figure should fill in as a general just fine.
I have not seen anyone paint up this figure with a grey coat, but they would have been almost as common as white.
I spent extra time on this horse, and I think the extra effort shows.
I love this line of figures. They are pricey, so I have to pick up just a few units at a time, but they are worth the money.
Are you working off a white basecoat? That red really pops.
ReplyDeletemmmm....yes he's turned out well indeed, very nice and a great range Eureka.
ReplyDeleteReally like him.
ReplyDeleteGreat work.
The highlighting looks perfect.
This figure got black primer. I tried priming white once, and the figures looked awful.
ReplyDeleteWell funckens book has commanders in White / grey / and even black coats, but I don't know if that was true for all the mounted commanders as well.
ReplyDeleteAlso i have gone back to a grey primer with brown washes because I can no longer find ultra flat black primer anywhere!
I also hane a black wash that I have not tried yet but I am still using my dip method to finish off my figures.
Yeah, my old primer standbys have not been working well lately. I'm not sure if it's the weather or new formulations, but I had to switch to auto primer, which has been working very well.
ReplyDeleteVery handsome officer. Looking forward to seeing your Austrian line.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've been having trouble getting flat black primer too. The can says "flat" but it dries with a sheen.
I have been thinking of breaking out the airbrush for priming. I have my good Aztec, which is great for delicate work with acrylics. I may try some flat black enamel with my old Badger.
